Dermal fillers are made from Hyaluronic acid; a natural substance found in the body.
High amounts of Hyaluronic acid are found in the connective tissue, in the fluid surrounding the eyes, in some cartilage and joint fluids and in the skin.
Hyaluronic acid have an excellent viscoelasticity, a high moisture retention capacity and a high biocompatibility are used in a wide range of medical applications, cosmetics procedures and nutraceuticals. (Supplements and some foods )
Originally hyaluronic acid was obtained from rooster combs but now it is mainly produced via the fermentation of a bacteria called Streptococcus.
Once extracted hyaluronic acid is reformulated and is now one of the most common injectable fillers used worldwide.
When hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin, it inflates and cushions the skin to support, define and create facial contour, whilst volumising and restoring elasticity. It also restores and holds water to the surface of skin to maintain more moisture.
